How we work

The whole of a home, thoughtfully done.

We write a story particular to you, and design your home from it, so it is deeply connected to the people who live there. We want our homes to feel as though they’ve always been there: mellow and uncontrived.

Getting the design right and keeping to the programme matter equally to us. Our stages follow the RIBA Plan of Work, the framework used across design and construction.

Stage 1

Taking the brief

We start at your home. We want to see how you live in it, and hear what you feel is missing. After the visit we send a proposal for your project, with the scope, a budget guideline for each room and an outline timeline, so you know where you stand before you commit.

You only ever have to explain what you want once.

Your concept

This is where the real work happens. Through our Style Discovery and a great many conversations, we come to know you well, from the music you love to how you like your mornings.

From all of that we write a story for your house. It becomes the concept we design from, so every choice, from the palette to the character of each room, has a touchstone.

Every concept has a title, and every room goes back to it.

Developed design

We take the concept room by room into a full design, resolving the layout, lighting, materials, furniture and joinery together so every room works as well as it looks. We bring you clear recommendations, and refine them with you.

Every decision is made for a reason.

Technical drawings

We produce a full drawing pack and schedules, joinery included, so your contractor can build the design exactly as intended.

Every detail is drawn so nothing is left to interpretation on site.

Procurement

We source widely, and often find vintage and one-off pieces you won’t come across twice. Then we do the buying: we place and manage every order, and store everything until the house is ready for it. You approve each piece, and can see where things stand at any point.

Any trade discounts we receive are passed straight on to you at cost.

Installation

During the works we visit site to make sure the design is being carried out as intended. On completion we are there throughout the installation and finish with the final styling ourselves, so you walk into a home that is complete and ready to live in.

Finished to the last detail and ready for you to live in.
